A metal instrument consisting of a cylindrical body with a knurled knob at one end. At the opposite end is a clamp mechanism that is actuated using the knurled knob. At the centre of the clamp jaws is a notch or slit that retains or releases a titanium staple.

The Impactor Assembly is part of an apparatus used to implant or extract the FastLok™ staple and buckle system for attaching suture and tape to cortical bone. The system is used, for instance, in anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction.
The Impactor Assembly is used to clamp the FastLok™ staple in its jaws. A sliding hammer instrument (not acquired with the collection) is used to drive the impactor assembly and staple into place, after which the staple is released from the impactor assembly. The staple is used to secure a buckle and attached polyester tapes, which for part of the prepared tendon graft.
The instrument is in good cosmetic condition. There are light abrasions across the surface of the artifact. There is a particularly noticeable abrasion on the knurled grip of the cylindrical body.
