A white cardboard box contains a grey metal box with rounded edges. Inside the metal box is a arthroscope cradled in a grey foam liner.

An arthroscope with a narrow back coloured eyepiece. The short body of the arthroscope has a fibre optic port attached horizontally. The narrow stem or the arthroscope terminates in an angled tip. There is an yellow-white band around the port for the fibre optic cable. A piece of green tape is also wrapped around the port. Another piece of green tape has been placed near the eyepiece.

Labelling on either side of the box reads: “NON STERILE// CAUTION: FEDERAL LAW {USA} RESTRICS THIS DEVICE TO SALE BY OR ON THE ORDER OD A PHYSICIAN.”

Function:

An arthroscope is in optical instrument for viewing the interior of a joint during a surgical operation. Its development made possible minimally invasive surgery for many knee operations. It significantly improved diagnoses and healing times for many knee conditions. Specialized arthroscopes may also be used on smaller joints.

Condition:

This instrument is in excellent cosmetic condition.
